Collagen: The Secret Ingredient that the Stars Love
Collagen is a naturally occurring protein in the human body and one of the major building blocks that keep things running smoothly. As we age, production of collagen drops and we notice wrinkles, brittle hair, nails and bones and even creaking joints.
Of course, celebrities don’t have this problem as they’re just built differently - not like the rest of us, right? Wrong. The reason your favorite a-listers look eternally young is a combination of factors. Air-brushing, fad diets, grueling gym programs, stylists, botox and a whole host of other secret weapons play their part.
But over the last few years, the secret weapon they keep coming back to is that humble little protein, collagen. Here’s a quick look at some of your favorite celebs who include collagen as part of their regular regime of looking impossibly young despite the relentless ravages of time.
Jenifer Aniston
Well hey there, friend! Jen has been incredibly vocal about her use of liquid collagen, saying “Collagen is the glue that holds everything together," Aniston says in the press release. "I've always been an advocate for nourishing your wellness from within”.
At 53 years of age and looking at least 10 years younger, who are we to argue with that?
Khloé Kardashian
Another high-profiler who’s keeping up with the collagen is this member of the Kardashian clan. She’s also been impressed enough with collagen to put her name to a brand, saying “I wanted to find a way I could help inform people about the benefits of collagen, without confusion or accessibility challenges”.
So for Khloé, the benefits are clear, and it seems to be working out pretty well for her as you can see.
Lisa Snowdon
Fashion model, TV and radio presenter and all-round 50-year old beauty Lisa Snowden is another passenger on the collagen train. She says “I take collagen every day, which is so good for the skin, hair and nails” adding “and finally, laughter - someone to laugh with is good for the soul”.
In fairness, she also admits to spending £300 on facials and acupuncture every six weeks, so that can’t hurt either.
Kate Hudson
Academy Award nominate Kate clearly has good looks in the genes she inherited from her mother, Goldie Hawn. But it goes without saying she puts in the effort when it comes to looking her very best. The Fabletics founder says she enjoys post-workout smoothies to keep her well hydrated and support great joint and bone health.
It certainly seems to be doing the trick.
Along with all these celebs there’s a whole host more who regularly enjoy the benefit of liquid collagen, collagen tablets and collagen powder. Multiple Kardashians, the eternally young Drew Barrymore, Victoria Beckham, Charlotte McKinney, Molly Shannon, Iskra Lawrence and probably a great many more.
